Welcome

Bonjour!

la-maison-chabbert-entrer

With great pride and pleasure we present to you Bed and Breakfast La Maison Chabbert, nestled in the lovely village of Beaufort in the Minervois wine growing area, located on the border of the departments of Aude and Hérault in the southern province of Occitania (until 1st October 2016 Languedoc-Roussillon), France. Our chambres d’hôtes dates from 1863. After careful renovation, La Maison Chabbert now has modern facilities while keeping all its original historical charm and style.

No matter what the weather may bring, one can find many perfect places to relax and unwind, whether in the delightfully leafy garden outside, or indoors enjoying all the spacious and inviting living rooms. With a local population of around 200 inhabitants, Beaufort is situated among the sun-soaked vineyards of the Minervois, an area rich in history. Perched above the village stands a castle which once served as the defense for the picturesque village of Minerve. During the 18th century, the castle was partially rebuilt on the medieval foundations of the village. Prehistoric excavations have uncovered remains dating from the Neolithic and Gallo-Roman periods. An old road called ‘Cami Romieu’, used by pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela, still exists. Part of the Church of St. Martin dates from the 11th century.

Just 3 kilometers away lies Olonzac, a lively village with much to offer. Take a leisurely stroll through the weekly Tuesday morning market. At about 30 kilometers towards the coast is Narbonne, a Mediterranean city of 50,000 inhabitants. From there, you can easily discover the beautiful beaches of Narbonne. Beaufort’s surroundings provide for fantastic walking and biking opportunities, and many special places and sights to discover on your own.

You can find more information about Olonzac and other places throughout our website. We love to welcome our guests and help to make their stay as enjoyable as possible. Prior to our move to France from the Netherlands, Dick was a patissier, and Annemarie was a hotel receptionist and a French professor. We fell in love with France many years ago, and we see it as such a privilege to bring our shared passions to life at La Maison Chabbert. We are very much looking forward to your stay!
