drought – (too much) water – storm
After two years of practically no rain, this winter brought plenty of water, and then came … la tempête Nils. The storm left a trail of destruction in the countryside around Beaufort and the surrounding area. Trees were blown over like matchsticks, especially pine, cypress and olive trees. These trees do not have very deep roots and had become unstable due to the saturated soil. It will take a long time to clear up the damage. At least there will be no shortage of water this summer; a small consolation.
